BOSSES at Croome Court are looking for green fingered volunteers with an interest in history to help out at the National Trust site.
People who are interested in volunteering at the historic site are invited to attend a drop in coffee morning this Saturday (January 23), in the RAF canteen at the Visitor Centre.
There is a packed calendar of events this year at Croome, opening lots of new and innovative ways for people to get involved and volunteer their much needed time.
The site is currently developing its volunteering programme to ensure there are opportunities for people to join in on a more flexible basis.
There are roles in room guiding in Croome Court and the RAF Defford Museum, gardening in the now award-winning walled garden, maintenance, catering and conservation.
With two more floors being opened shortly in the house, there are even more opportunities to get involved.
Rachel Coltman, Croome’s volunteer manager said: “Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Croome and play a huge part in supporting our work, either engaging with our visitors or helping behind the scenes.”
Sue Walby, one of Croome’s volunteers, said: “My husband started volunteering first and told me it was such a great way to meet new people and everyone was so welcoming.
“Following my retirement, I’ve now got the Croome bug and have got involved in lots of different areas, both indoors and outdoors, such as gardening, room guiding, administration and events.”
The event runs from 9am to 11am.
Croome is open from 10am and the house is open from 11am every day.
