RESIDENTS of Worcester are being urged to recycle more this Christmas in a bid to send less waste to landfill.
Worcester City Council has created new livery for all its household refuse vehicles, which will see a range of new images emblazoning the side of the vehicles, each one depicting popular items which can be recycled in the bathroom, kitchen or lounge.
With 37 per cent of Worcester residents currently recycling their waste, the City Council is keen to reduce the volume sent to landfill still further.
Coun Andy Roberts, Cabinet Member for a Cleaner and Greener City said: “Our aim with this campaign is to increase awareness of what items can be recycled locally – and to cut down on the number of recyclable items which are being placed in black bins.
“It’s particularly important to send this message out in the run-up to Christmas, when the volume of household refuse and recycling collected by Worcester City Council increases significantly. I hope this campaign will help to resolve common household disputes over which items can and can’t be recycled!”
