THE HIVE has proved itself to be one of the most popular libraries in the whole country, according to statistics released by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
The study showed, with regards to book or other loans in the last year, Worcester’s main library finished second nationwide, after 899,383 items were taken out.
It was only beaten by the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium library which had loaned 1,012,877 items out in the last 12 months.
Overall, the study showed there could be questions about the long-term sustainability of libraries as budgets up and down the country were cut by £50million.
