Cathedral to hold vigil for world peace

WORCESTER Cathedral is inviting people of all religions and cultures to attend a vigil for world peace.

On Tuesday (November 24), the Cathedral’s Chapter House will be aglow with candlelight, providing the setting for people to come together in silent prayer for world peace.

In the light of recent attacks in Paris and widespread concern for the people of the world forced to flee their homes as a consequence of war, there will be opportunity to sit quietly, to light a candle and write personal prayers for peace to hang on the prayer tree.

Canon Georgina Byrne said: “This is an act of silent solidarity because we need no spoken words to express our hopes.

“We will gather as citizens of one world who, whatever our faith or beliefs, share a common longing for peace.”

Members of the public are invited to call in to the Cathedral’s Chapter House, in the cloisters, at any point between 6pm and 7pm and to stay for as long as they are able.
