Officers recognised for their community spirit and courage

DEDICATED police officers from North Worcester have been rewarded for their outstanding work at a special commendations evening.

Police officers, support staff and police community support officers from the north of the city attended the awards ceremony at Hindlip Hall on Tuesday, October, 20, to be praised for their quality work in the community which they carry out on a daily basis.

Det Cons Claire Masters, Carrie Barnes and Sophie Gaffney were praised in the Local Investigation Commendations, PCs Philip Shadwell, Ellaine Graham and Claire Wright were recognised in the Patrol Commendations and PC Paul Kennedy and John Fleetwood were praised in the Safer Neighbourhood Team Commendations.

Chief Con David Shaw, Police Crime Commissioner (PCC) Bill Longmore and Mike Layton, the PCC’s community ambassador for North Worcestershire, joined colleagues, family and friends of those being handed their awards.




Officers from the local Investigation teams and patrol and safer neighbourhood teams, were also rewarded for their outstanding duties in North Worcester.

Supt Alexander Franklin-Smith said: “Outstanding police work can and very often does take various forms, be that outstanding bravery, meticulous eye for detail, going the extra mile in creating stronger community relationships and great leadership that realises successful outcomes.


“Those who received awards have demonstrated bravery, selflessness, commitment, determination and passion to their jobs to the very best of their ability.

“A number of officers have shown a dogged determination to bring offenders to justice and the ceremony was recognition of those efforts.”
