A WORCESTER CITY footballer has hit the back of the net off the field after he notched up a First Class Honours in his university degree.

Jacob Rowe, a former Birmingham City youngster, said he was delighted to learn he’d scored top grades off the pitch.

He will graduate from the University of Worcester with a First Class Honours degree in Business Management during a ceremony at Worcester Cathedral in November.

The 24-year-old said: “Given the support of the lecturers and infrastructure available I knew I had the resources to help me achieve a First class degree and I am proud of the accomplishment.”

Jacob joined the university through Clearing with a BTEC National Diploma qualification, after being taken on at Worcester City FC.

“I was keen to continue my education, therefore, I applied to the University of Worcester,” he said. “The University was a great experience for me both educationally and socially and has provided with me with lifelong friends and equipped me with skills that support my future career aspirations and for that I am sincerely grateful,” he said.

Jacob, from Solihull, and a former pupil of Arden School, has now secured a full time job at JP Morgan as an Equities Trade Assistant.

“During my time at the University I completed two internships,” he said.

“My first internship was an industrial placement year at JP Morgan and my second internship was at Russell Investments. I consequently received graduate offers to return to both companies.

“I decided to take the job with JP Morgan, which is a great opportunity, working on the trading floors at the firm’s London office.”
