CHILDREN’S centres a have hosted an event to celebrate National PlayDay in Worcester.

Action for Children held the activities at the Guildhall and throughout the city on Wednesday, August 5 to promote the importance of play for youngsters health and childhood experience.

Participants took part in junk modelling, face painting and arts and crafts.

Worcester City Council’s sports development team organised cricket, soft play and parachute games while the Hive held Bounce and Rhyme story telling sessions.




Sue Rogers, head of service in Worcester for Action for Children, said: “National PlayDay is a wonderful opportunity for families to get together and play together, Modern life is very busy and fast-moving but we must never forget how important play is for the children and their emotional and physical wellbeing.

“I hope as many families enjoyed the event as we did and that we made National PlayDay a day to remember.”


This was the 28th National PlayDay and hundreds of events are organised across the country for thousands of children to take part in.

Action for Children’s centres provide support for young people under 19-year-olds and their families, they do this through outreach services, youth support and community development project projects and early help centres.
