A WOMAN has died after being hit by a train close to a city level crossing.

British Transport Police were called to the rail line close to Kay’s crossing shortly before 9.30am on Friday (June 5) after reports a person had been struck by a train.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene,” a British Transport Police spokesperson said.

“Officers are now working to identify the woman and inform her family.




“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
