THE CITY’S car parks have been deemed some of the safest in the country after the final one was given the seal of approval.
Croft car park is the last in Worcester to be given the prestigious Park Mark Safer Parking Award by The British Parking Association and the Association of Chief Police Officers.
They aim to reduce crime and fear by making sure they are properly managed and maintained with good lighting, effective CCTV and are in a clean and safe environment.
Those that meet the criteria are given the accreditation and all in Worcester now bare the Park Mark.
Superintendent Kevin Purcell, policing commander for South Worcestershire, said, “Worcester’s car parks are some of the safest in the country, and this is reflected in the fact there is virtually no recorded crime in them.
“This is a testament to the continuous partnership between the City Council and the Police to create these safe environments.”
Andy Chinn, parking and enforcement services manager at Worcester City Council, said: “We have worked hard to ensure Croft Road meets the stringent Park Mark standards – and we are delighted that every single one of Worcester City Council’s car parks has now received this prestigious award.”
