VOLUNTEERS walked 80 miles to raise £3,000 towards an operation to make a blind dog see.
The Senior Staffy Club organised the event where they walked from one of their kennel sites in Hilderstone, Staffordshire, to the other in Broomhall in Worcester to help pay for Stevie’s cataract surgery which is set to cost almost £6,000.
The seven-year-old Staffordshire Bull terrier is in need of a home but needs specialist care as vets believe he has been blind since birth.
The surgery should give him 85 per cent of his sight.
Kate Lee is a trustee for the Senior Staffy Club and took part in the walk, she said: “The walk went really well and we had good weather for it.
“It’s really Worth doing, he’s such a young happy chappy, he will sit and give his paw, he’s very friendly and loves cuddles but at the moment he will need specialist care.
“He’s so full of life, it would be so nice to give him this gift.”
She added, two of the volunteers also walked ten miles blind folded led by their husbands to see what Stevie goes through.
They still need nearly £3,000 and urge people to donate by visiting www.seniorstaffyclub.co.uk/Pages/StevieStagger.
