WHETHER it’s face painting, wearing red, selling cakes or being funny for money, schools across the city have done their bit to raise hundreds for Red Nose Day, writes Lauren Jeal.
Red Hill CE Primary School raised £550 last Friday (March 13) for comic relief.
They sold 240 red noses for £1 each, their cake sale saw another £100 raised and their sponsored red dress brought in another £200.
The children organised the events themselves while staff at the school performed a dance during an assembly on the day.
Grimley and Holt Primary School raised £120 when they painted their faces funny for money and carried out a bake sale.
Sara Sampson, event organiser, said: “The children had fun decorating their faces and selling Red Nose cakes to raise money for such a good cause.”
The Heart of Worcestershire College raised £60 selling red noses and £87 through painting faces and selling cakes.
Northwick Manor Primary School raised £723 when they spent the day painting faces and wearing mad hats and outfits.
Sara Stanley, assistant deputy head, said: “ Children at Northwick Manor Primary School had an amazing fun packed day full of jokes and colour.
“Many thanks to all the parents who supported us.”
