A SPELLBINDING evening of magic and mystery blasted into the city as dozens of new wizards graduated from Hogwarts.
The Hive’s children’s library was transformed into Platform 9 3/4, the Great Hall and Professor Snape’s office last Thursday (February 5) as part of the Harry Potter book night.
Each child was sorted into their houses of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Ravenclaw. They earned house points for magical wand making, a Diagon Alley treasure hunt, potion creations and story telling.
Coun Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for communities and localism, said: “What a fun event and such a good way to encourage children to get involved in the library.
“The library staff clearly put in a huge amount of effort and the tweets and feedback on the night show that the event was really well received”.
The house cup competition winners were inevitably Gryffindor with many mini Harry Potters to share in the success.
