Norovirus closes hospital ward - The Worcester Observer

Norovirus closes hospital ward

Worcester Editorial 21st Nov, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

AN OUTBREAK of norovirus has forced a ward to close at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Visitors are currently banned from the Medical High Care ward while Ward 5 at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch is also shut due to the winter vomiting bug.

It follows the closure of the county’s hospitals in February this year after the bug spread throughout the sites.

Anyone with concerns about visiting a relative is asked to contact the wards directly, while those who have experienced sickness or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours should not visit the hospitals at all.

To reduce the risk of passing the virus on to others, people are reminded to wash their hands regularly, while those with the bug should drink more fluids and not visit their GP.
