Crowds flock to see the lights go on

Worcester Editorial 20th Nov, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas officially began in Worcester when the festive lights were switched on.

The High Street and surrounding roads were illuminated with Christmas sparkle last Thursday (November 13) as Mayor of Worcester, Coun Alan Amos was joined by Santa Claus to press the all important switch.

Hundreds of people packed outside the Guildhall to cheer the start of the celebrations, with live entertainment provided by Youthcomm.

There are now a number of festive things to enjoy in the city in the lead up to the big day, with the Victorian Christmas Fayre set to bring plenty of cheer from next Thursday (November 27) until Sunday, November 30.
