A TRAIN crash was re-enacted at a city centre station to test the emergency service’s response.
The exercise, which took place near Shrub Hill Station, pushed Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) to respond to a collision between two trains, a car and an unsafe building. A large amount of casualties also needed to be rescued.
A total of 120 volunteers took part to make the scenario as realistic as possible and they were joined by more than 50 firefighters in ten engines, specialist vehicles from Malvern and Stourport, Urban Search and Rescue, ambulance staff, police, British Transport Police and Network Rail.
HWFRS thanked everyone involved for making the even a success.
All agencies worked together to test their recent training as part of the government-backed Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Procedures programme.
