BUDDING bakers rose to the challenge when they battled it out in their school’s version of Great British Bake Off.
The hit-BBC show was the theme of this year’s annual coffee morning at Red Hill CE Primary School, which aims to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, which was organised by Year Five pupils, saw about 30 youngsters make and sell cakes on Friday, September 26 as well as a number of teachers.
Caron Shearman was voted the staff winner, while the children’s award went to Year Four pupil Charlotte after impressing the judges with her baking skills.
Charlotte Foy, Year Five teacher, said: “It was a really successful morning as we raised £400.28 for Macmillan. We also held a guess the weight of the cake and guess the number of coffee beans in the jar competitions, which went down well.”
