POLICE are urging people to watch out for Koi Carp being sold illegally after a number of fish were stolen from an elderly woman’s pond in Dines Green.
Thieves targeted the 71-year-old’s rear garden in Drake Avenue on two separate occasions – the first some time between 10pm on Friday, August 29 and 7am the following day and again between 7pm on Friday, September 5 and 8.30am on September 6.
Police said some of the fish stolen were of a high value but more importantly were of great sentimental value to the victim.
Of the fish taken, ten were goldfish and about six were Koi Carp – two of which are particularly unusual – one is very large with red and black colouring and the other has red, black and white markings.
Police are keen to make the public aware of these thefts and to look out for any these fish, particularly the Koi Carp, being sold in the area.
