Painting offers an enigmatic presence

Worcester Editorial 1st May, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

THIS giant painting of Worcester’s most famous son has been wowing shoppers in the city.

The quirky twist on Edward Elgar, which shows him wearing a pair of headphones, towers above customers at HMV in High Street.

The masterpiece was created by Malvern artists Tom Brown and Lee Morris who have already attracted interest with their brightly coloured Banksy inspired Elgar portraits which decorated a bus shelter and sold at auction for almost £3,000.

Elgar, who was born in Lower Broadheath on the outskirts of the city, is no stranger to the music and entertainment retailer, having opened the original store in Oxford Street, London, in 1921.
