PEOPLE of all ages are being urged to pull on their running shoes and take part in a race to raise funds for a city hospice this summer.
Registration is now open for the 2014 Triple Run event, which takes place on Sunday, June 22, in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
This year’s event at The Three Counties Showground in Malvern features a wheelchair-friendly 1km fun run, a 5k woodland trail and a half marathon.
Organisers say they have already attracted 400 people to sign up to the annual event which will see all three races start together and end under the same finish arch at the showground.
But Ian Carr, events manager at Acorns Children’s Hospice’s, said he was determined to get even more runners pounding the pavements this summer.
“So far 394 people have signed up to take part in the Acorns Triple Run,” he said.
“We’re really pleased with the numbers but we want many more people to take part. We are also looking for corporate sponsors which play an important role in this major fund-raiser.
“Acorns Children’s Hospice doesn’t charge families for making use of its services, regardless of the ever increasing costs involved.
“We rely heavily on public fund-raising and voluntary donations from events such as the Triple Run to provide us with the majority of the funding we need to operate.”
