A CITY opticians is running two egg-citing competitions in the lead up to Easter to help raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Specsavers in Broad Street is hosting an Easter raffle and a children’s colouring competition, which started Saturday (March 29) and will run until April 19, in aid of the charity.

The raffle, which costs £1 per ticket, will see the winner claim a giant Easter egg and more tasty treats. Children entering the 50p colouring competition are asked to collect an entry from the store and design their own Easter egg, with a bag full of goodies up for grabs.

Both winners will be announced on April 19.

Alan Richards, Specsavers store director, said: “Easter’s a great time to fund-raise for a charity like Acorns, as people are generally more cheerful and generous when there is chocolate involved.

“Acorns Children’s Hospice has been our nominated charity for a number of years now, and we remain committed to ensuring we do the best we can in terms of fund-raising support.”
