University event attracts thousands

THOUSANDS of young people descended on the University of Worcester to find out about their future study options.

More than 4,000 students, aged 16 to 18, came along to the annual Hereford and Worcester UCAS convention last Friday (March 21) to talk to representatives of 125 different Higher Education institutions from across the UK.

The event, which is the only UCAS fair in the two counties, gave teenagers the opportunity to find out more about institutions and courses, attend seminars on making their UCAS applications and understand student finance.

Gian Fazey-Koven, head of outreach and recruitment at the University of Worcester, said: “It has been great to get so many young people through the doors of the University.

“UCAS conventions are all about giving prospective students all the information possible as they prepare to make important decisions about their future, and we hope that the Hereford and Worcester UCAS convention has given young people ample opportunities to explore the wide variety of courses and institutions across the UK.”
