A GREEN-FINGERED group of volunteers helped to revitalise an overgrown piece of land at one of Worcester’s special schools.
The Princes Trust has teamed up with Fort Royal Community Primary School which was hoping to breathe new life into a part of its grounds, which had been left redundant for the past six years.
The project has seen students build a raised bed for planting vegetables, tidy up the orchard area and put a roof on a shelter.
Nick Lee, outdoor learning coordinator at the school, which caters for children with special educational and physical needs, said he was delighted to see the team from the Princes Trust carrying out the work.
“I have been put in place to try and rejuvenate the space so we can have all the children outside taking part in outdoor activities and the Princes Trust has enabled us to do that,” he said.
“Between ten and 20 students have been on site every day for the last two weeks and they have been very friendly to all the children they have met.”
