A MAN has been charged with kidnap after attacking a woman in a Worcester car park.

Joshua Beardmore, 20, from Glenthorne Avenue, was arrested on Tuesday (February 23) and has been remanded in police custody to appear before Kidderminster Remand Court this morning (Thursday).

The incident happened about 7.15am on Sunday (February 23), when a woman on her way to work was taking a shortcut through the car park at Asda in Lowesmoor.

She walked passed a man who was sitting on a metal bicycle bar and, once she passed him, he followed her for a short distance.

He then grabbed her from behind, put his hand across her mouth and pushed her into some nearby bike racks and up against a concrete wall.

The woman struggled and, in a matter of seconds, he released her running off into St Martin’s Quarter.
