In the frame for record

A CITY advertising graduate is attempting to break a world record as part of an ambitious project to spread a positive message in the wake of the Eurozone crisis.

Constantinos Arkadiou, who graduated from the University of Worcester last year and returned to his homeland of Cyprus, wants to create the world’s largest photo collage and be recognised by Guiness World Records.

Inspired by the tough economic situation which has blighted the majority of Europe, and by fears of a Cypriot bank collapse, Constantinos is aiming to share the message of ‘people power’ by making the collage which will consist of photographs of individuals holding a sign displaying the message ‘I Am The Economy’.

He is hoping the finished piece will contain 30,000 pictures and measure about 10,000 square metres.

Constantinos said: “The project is a modern manifesto which aims to remind all of us that every single person – rather than banks and corporations alone – is a part of the economy, is able to change it and to fight for our own success.

“Even though most of the participants so far have been Cypriot, the issue we are addressing is relevant for people across the world.”

Constantinos is inviting people from Worcester and elsewhere in the UK to help him break the record – the I Am The Economy sign can be downloaded from www.iamtheeconomy.net, and the resulting pictures can be shared on Facebook, twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #iamtheeconomy.
