City prepare for Solihull test

Worcester Editorial 13th Mar, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

REVENGE will not be on the cards for Worcester City when they make the trip to Midlands rivals Solihull Moors tomorrow (Saturday), according to their manager.

Despite a 4-1 drubbing at Aggborough three weeks ago by tomorrow’s opponents, Carl Heeley has said that result will have little baring on how they go about their business at the Autotech Stadium.

The heavy reverse was Worcester’s last defeat, and they have drawn two and won one of the subsequent three, hoisting themselves back up to tenth in the process.

A number of key players will be missing from the tricky tie, including long-term absentees Nathan Vaughan, Tyler Weir and Connor Gater. Shab Khan will also be out of action as he serves his six-game ban.

Mike Symons, Wayne Thomas and Kyle Haynes all missed the 2-0 win over Gainsborough Trinity last weekend, but Heeley admitted the week off could pull them back into contention.

Tristian Dunkley will be hoping to continue his purple patch with three goals in his last three outings.

Solihull are a place behind the Blue and Whites and have struggled on home turf this season having won just five of their 15 games.

The Moors also find themselves in a wretched run of form having lost six of their last eight in the Conference North.

Manager Heeley said: “We were disappointed in our performance (in the 4-1 loss) but it is done and dusted now.

“We are not looking for revenge, we are looking to try and win the next game.

“It is going to be tough but we are capable of going there and winning the game.”
