'We need you more than ever' - owners plea

Worcester Editorial 7th Nov, 2020   0

WORCESTER’S independent businesses are urging the local community to continue to support them during the second lockdown.

City independent retailers form 64 per cent of all Worcester businesses and rely heavily on local footfall. They are having to rapidly adapt for the next lockdown in line with the latest government guidelines.

Aasia Baig, owner of The Centenary Lounge in The Cross said: “As a small business owner with limited resources we have gone beyond what was expected of us to keep our teams and customers safe and comfortable but once again we have been closed down with very little support for the business and the owners.

“We are grateful for the furlough for our staff however. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, for us we thrive in communities and actually care about our teams and customers. Please bear us in mind whether you are looking to pick up a takeaway, order a home delivery or are looking for ideas for gifts. Many of the independents can be found online or at the other end of the phone.

“We need you more than ever and will always remember your support as our customers are not just a number for us – everyone matters”
