New forum launched for Worcestershire landlords

Worcester Editorial 7th Oct, 2018   0

LANDLORDS will have the chance to gain valuable advice and support at the annual Wychavon and Malvern Landlord Forum 2018.

Organised by Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils, the free event will be held in the Chamber of the Civic Centre in Pershore from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Monday, October 8.

A number of guest speakers will be there covering a variety of important topics including current legislative updates for landlords and letting agents as well as information on the roll out of Universal Credit and how it will affect private landlords.

The Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government will be doing a presentation along with the National Landlords Association and Wychavon District Council will be launching a programme of ‘bite-sized’ learning for landlords to engage with.

A representative from West Mercia Police authority will be available at the beginning of the forum from 5pm to 5.30pm as well as a representative from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service who will be available all evening to give any advice.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for housing and communities at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It is important, as a council, to create and maintain a dialogue with the community to help us better understand their needs.

“We are excited to see a range of guest speakers from varying professional backgrounds offer a wealth of knowledge and advice to residents and equally, for residents to raise any concerns they may have.”

Coun Richard Morris, portfolio holder for economy and housing for Wychavon District Council, added the aim of the forum was to inform landlords of the legislation to help them protect their businesses.

“Whether you are a new, experienced, or an accidental landlord, everyone is welcome to the annual Wychavon and Malvern Landlord Forum 2018.”
