It’s baking out there

STUDENTS at Christopher Whitehead Language College marked Mental Health Awareness Week with a series of events.

The week was part of on-going work in the school led by teacher Zoe Taylor along with staff, student and parent ‘mental wealth’ committees.

Activities to encourage staff and students to take time out and improve their mental health through meditation, an art competition and gardening were among the events on offer.

Those involved also completed a list of five daily tasks to keep themselves mentally well.

Mrs Taylor said: “We were humbled to listen to visiting speaker Lucy Alexander’s experiences and welcomed her advice about bullying, particularly online.

“Above all as a school we hope this helps to continue to raise the profile of the issues surrounding mental health and encourages the important conversations to be continued.”
