DWP Digital has teamed up with CodeFirstGirls to deliver a free online ‘Introduction to JavaScript’ course on Thursday, May 20 at 6pm.

The course is open to anyone interested in taking their first steps into the world of front-end development.

People can register at https://codefirstgirls.typeform.com/to/qC4iiEhm

As well as exploring the basics of Javascript, participants will also get the opportunity to find out more about what it’s like working in a digital role in government, and using their skills to make an impact on society.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) digital services are accessed by more than 20 million people each year at all stages of their lives.

Nicola Platts, head of talent marketing at DWP Digital said: “It’s widely acknowledged that women are underrepresented in the tech industry.

“In DWP Digital, we’re passionate about closing this gender skills gap as we believe that a diverse balanced workforce leads to more creativity and innovation.

“So we’re excited about this partnership with CodeFirstGirls to help encourage those who identify as women and non-binary into considering a future career within tech.”
