Dunhelm hope to Deliver Joy to care home

Worcester Editorial 1st Nov, 2020   0

DUNELM’s Worcester store is taking part in the homeware retailer’s national Delivering Joy campaign, which aims to deliver thousands of gifts across the country to those less fortunate this Christmas.

Shoppers in Worcester can make a Christmas wish come true by donating a shoebox of gifts from now until 11th December, which will then be delivered to local residents of St Stephens Care Home. Donations will also be sent to local schools and women’s refuges across the region.

From novelty mugs, to a fleecy blanket, residents have written on gift tags small wishes that would make a big difference to them this Christmas. The tags can be found on the Christmas tree at the front of the store, where a staff member will provide shoppers with a shoebox to then fill with gifts and place under the tree.

The initiative comes as many people across the country are met with financial hardship and continue to isolate in care homes, with many facing the possibility of spending Christmas away from their friends and family.

Jamie Gillespie, store manager at Dunelm Worcester said: “It has been a challenging year and we, with the support of our customers, are committed to helping those within the community who are less fortunate this Christmas.

“We’ve seen such a positive response to the campaign, both in store and on social media – particularly in the Dunelm Worcester Community Support Facebook group, that we’re confident that with the generous support from the people of Worcester, we’ll be able to put smiles on hundreds of deserving faces.”

Social distancing and strict hygiene measures are operating in store to ensure the safety of customers and staff including hand sanitiser and clearly marked 2 metre walkways.

Shoppers can help deliver joy this Christmas every day during the opening hours of 9am – 8pm Monday-Saturday and 10:30am – 5pm on Sunday, from now until Friday 11th December. Shoeboxes will then be sanitised and wrapped by the store colleagues before being delivered in time for Christmas.
