WORCESTER Warriors remain second in the table following a seven-try 41-29 victory against Richmond.
Tries from James Short and Lloyd Williams put Warriors in command before Siva Naulago dotted down twice to secure a bonus point for Worcester at the Richmond Athletic Ground.
And second-half tries from Ashley Challenger, Josh Bassett and Tiff Eden sealed victory for Matt Everard’s side despite a hat-trick from Richmond’s Paul Altier.
The result means Worcester sit second in the Champ Rugby table, three points ahead of Coventry in fourth place.
Warriors scored the game’s first try after just three minutes when Short powered through a gap out wide after Worcester turned the ball deep in Richmond territory.
Worcester crossed again on 17 minutes as Williams collected Will Trewin’s kick ahead to dot down after the latter broke down the left wing.
However, Richmond responded on 25 minutes when Miles Wakeling crossed following a quick tap penalty.
Warriors struck again on 29 minutes as Naulago forced his way over the line after Williams darted down the blindside from a driving maul.
The tries continued to flow when Altier replied for Richmond two minutes later after he burst through a gap in the Worcester defence and dotted down under the posts.
And Altier scored a second try on 33 minutes when he intercepted a pass to run in out wide and put the home side ahead.
However, Worcester reclaimed the lead three minutes later as Naulago cut through the Richmond midfield to score his second and the away side’s bonus point try.
Warriors crossed again after the break on 57 minutes when Challenger touched down following a powerful driving maul.
Worcester scored a sixth try on 69 minutes as Bassett finished in the corner to take the game out of Richmond’s reach.
Altier completed his hat-trick on 76 minutes after he chased a grubber kick and dotted down to score the home side’s bonus point try.
Warriors scored their final try two minutes later as Eden plucked a stray pass out of the air and ran in under the sticks.
However, Richmond scored the game’s final try when Ronnie Du Randt crossed with the clock in the red.
Worcester are next in action against Bedford Blues on Saturday, April 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Sixways Stadium.
