WORCESTER City saw their six-game unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end following a 1-0 defeat away at title-chasing Harborough Town.
The game’s only goal came on 23 minutes as Terell Pennant’s first-half strike settled the contest at the Community Football Ground.
And the result means Worcester sit ninth in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points outside of the play-off places.
Harborough broke the deadlock with the first meaningful effort of the game as Pennant lashed a low shot into the net at Sam Kane”s near post from 20-yards out after City failed to deal with a high ball into the box.
The visitors spurned a glorious chance to draw level moments after the restart when Harry Burns launched a quick throw into the box and Matt Richards saw his shot tipped over the bar by Harborough goalkeeper Elliott Taylor when one-on-one.
After the break, Dan Sweeney saw his effort on the turn pushed behind by Taylor after Charlie Lutz picked out the striker in the box.
From the resulting corner, City felt they should have had a penalty when Sweeney went to ground in the area only for the referee to wave away Worcester’s appeals.
The visitors remained on top as Lutz headed wide when well-placed in the box before Sweeney played a dangerous ball across the face of goal with no one able to turn the loose ball home.
Worcester are next in action against Barwell on Saturday, March 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Sixways Stadium.
