DICKENS wouldn’t have felt out of place in Worcester as the city got into the Christmas spirit with the Victorian Fayre.
Tens of thousands of visitors enjoyed all the sights and sounds of a Victorian Christmas with costumed characters, street magicians, stilt walkers wandering among the crowds, and a traditional fun fair.
There were also almost 200 stalls.
Taking place over four days between Thursday December 4 and Sunday December 7, the festive event signalled the true start of Christmas in the city with the switching on of the Christmas tree lights by mayor Coun Dr Matt Lamb.
Cathedral Square came alive with the sounds of local school and community choirs, alongside live music performances.
Over in Cornmarket, visitors could enjoy the traditional funfair and the ever-popular Victorian carousel.
And Clik Clik Collective transformed Gin Alley into a nostalgic Victorian scene, complete with themed performers, games, and singing.
New for 2025, the BBC Introducing slots saw talented musicians and bands from Worcester and the surrounding area take to the Cathedral Square stage.
Performers included Worcestershire band Wood Burnt Red, BBC Introducing artists Ciars, Aliesha Jade and Molly Gone Mad, Malvern band Ranagri and Worcestershire singer Rachaayluu,.
Coun Dr Lamb said: “Christmas is such a magical time of year in Worcester.
“As the city sparkles with festive lights and the spirit of the season fills the air, the Victorian Fayre remains a highlight for residents and visitors alike.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase Worcester at its best – full of entertainment, warm hospitality, unique stalls, and of course, my personal favourite, the carousel.”
