BEN Allison recorded career-best figures with a six-wicket haul as Worcestershire Rapids beat Hampshire by five wickets in the One-Day Cup.
Allison’s six-fer saw the Rapids bowl Hampshire out for just 196 as Brett D’Oliveira scored a half-century in reply to help the Rapids to a five-wicket success at New Road.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat only for Allison (6-35) to claim the wicket of opener Ali Orr (10) at the end of the first over.
Allison returned to bowl Tilak Varma (3) while Hampshire captain and opener Nick Gubbins (60) scored a half-century.
However, Ethan Brookes (1-38) claimed the crucial wicket of Gubbins to leave Hampshire on 115-4.
Only Tom Prest (36), Brandon McMullen (29) and Felix Organ (20) made double figures of Hampshire’s remaining batters.
Allison accounted for Pest and Organ and wrapped up the innings with the wickets of Dominic Kelly (2) and Eddie Jack (1).
The Rapids lost opener Isaac Mohammed (10) in the fifth over of their reply before D’Oliveira (52) and Kashif Ali (32) shared a 59-run second-wicket stand.
Further runs from captain Jake Libby (32) and Brookes (35) boosted Worcestershire’s total before Matthew Waite (21 not out) guided the home side to victory.
Worcestershire are next in action against Derbyshire on Friday, August 15 with play to begin at 11am at Repton School.
