FOOTBALL - Worcester City score TEN goals against AFC Kempsey to retain Herefordshire FA Invitational Cup

WORCESTER City claimed a remarkable 10-0 victory against AFC Kempsey to retain the Herefordshire FA Invitational Cup.

Niall Flint, Dan Sweeney and Teddy Rowe all scored twice while Zac Guinan, Hayden Reeves, Logan Stoddart and Liam Lockett also found the net at Malvern Town’s HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

Worcester demolished Kempsey who play four levels below City in the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.

City broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when Guinan headed in Felix Miles’ cross from close range.

And Chris Cornes’ side doubled their lead on 25 minutes as Reeves forced a Miles corner over the line.

Worcester extended their lead on 35 minutes when Sweeney met Kyle Belmonte’s cross.




And City all but ended the game as a contest in first-half injury time as Stoddart poked the ball from from virtually on the goalline after the Kempsey goalkeeper denied Sweeney.

Worcester picked up where they left off after the break as Flint finished Lockett’s pass from close range on 48 minutes.


City struck again six minutes later when Rowe’s shot from the edge of the penalty area crept underneath the Kempsey goalkeeper.

Worcester scored their seventh goal on 58 minutes as Flint produced an emphatic finish to score his second of the game.

City made it eight on 75 minutes when Lockett drove into the box and found the bottom corner.

And Sweeney grabbed his second of the game four minutes later as he turned his marker before finding the top corner.

City completed the scoring in style on 88 minutes as Rowe lashed a shot into the net from distance.

Worcester begin their league campaign against Quorn on Saturday, August 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Sixways Stadium.
