WORCESTER City have launched a new women’s team called the ‘Lionesses’, taking inspiration from England’s recent triumph at Euro 2025.
England’s senior women’s football team recently secured back-to-back Euro’s victories following a penalty shootout success against world champions Spain.
And Worcester have taken inspiration from the success of the Lionesses to launch a women’s team with the same name.
The club’s youth section has grown to 34 teams ahead of the upcoming season with girls teams represented from under-11 level through to under-17 level.
And the Lionesses will now sit at the top of the club’s women’s and girls’ pathway.
New Worcester City Lionesses manager, Marc Kings said: “I’m incredibly proud and excited to officially be a part of Worcester City FC Lionesses, as we join what, I believe, is the biggest and most prestigious football club in the area.
“We are honoured to become the official women’s pathway team, supporting the clubs’ already well-established girls’ setup.
“This opportunity reflects both the ambition of Worcester City FC and our shared commitment to the continued growth of women’s football in the region.
“Any players looking for a new challenge are welcome to attend our open training on Thursday’s from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Pershore College.”
