WORCESTERSHIRE CCC have confirmed the signing of teenage prospect Daniel Lategan on a three-year professional contract.
The 19-year-old batter has progressed through the club’s academy system and has produced a string of eye-catching performances for Worcestershire’s second XI this season.
He joined the club’s academy at under-15 level with his professional contract to take effect from November 2025.
Cape Town born Lategan will be registered as one of the club’s overseas players.
Lategan said: “It is a dream come true to be signing my first pro contract. I’m very thankful for everyone that has helped me along the way and I couldn’t be happier.
“Representing such a great club is an honour. The lads at the club are a great bunch and the changing room is a great environment.
“I’m very excited to be working closely with the coaches and feel my game can constantly improve with their guidance.
“My ambition is to contribute to winning games for Worcestershire.
“I’d love to break into the first team and prove myself at the professional level and hopefully help Worcestershire win games in the years to come.”
Worcestershire CEO, Ashley Giles added: “We see Dan having huge potential in the medium and long term.
“He has all the skills to make him a really successful first class cricketer.
“Our focus is on building a squad that combines the best emerging talent with the quality and experience of our senior players, both are equally important to our future long term success.”
Pears head coach, Alan Richardson said: “Dan has earned this opportunity through his performances and his attitude, both on and off the field.
“He’s a talented young cricketer who’s shown he can compete at Second XI level, and we believe he has all the ingredients to succeed in the professional game.
“We’re really excited to see how he continues to develop over the next three years.”
