WORCESTERSHIRE CCC batter Adam Hose has claimed the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) player of the month award for June.

Hose scored 568 runs across nine games at an average of 63.11 in the County Championship and T20 Blast competitions.

He also amassed 145.85 most valuable players (MVP) points to earn a place in the top order of the PCA team of the month.

Hose said: “It is really nice to look back at a crazy month also with the arrival of mine and my wife’s first child in May.

“It took my mind off the cricket, so I just went out there and managed to put in some good performances.

“A couple of years ago, I moved from Warwickshire to Worcestershire to play more red-ball cricket.

“That move has given me more opportunities and I feel like I have been close to providing some really good outcomes without necessarily having those big scores.

“So, to get it [against Hampshire] and to go on and make a big score was a great memory which I will look back on fondly.

“Winning the award is great. You never set out to win these accolades, but it is always nice to be recognised. To gain the votes from the public is really special and something I am very grateful for.

“A lot of people say that a new-born child helps with your cricket. It might just be a coincidence, but I just haven’t had the time to think about my game.

“Sometimes you can get distracted by things away from the game so having that freshness of turning up and playing has been working well.”

Hose won two match MVP awards in June the first of which came in the T20 Blast against Notts Outlaws.

He smashed 95 runs from just 51 deliveries to help the Rapids to a 25-run success.

And the 32-year-old produced another MVP display against Hampshire in the County Championship.

Hose scored 266 runs from just 253 balls to register a career-best first class score in a 395-run partnership with Jake Libby.

He secured 46.5 per cent of the public vote to finish ahead of David Willey, Dom Sibley and Will Jacks.
