WORCESTERSHIRE CCC have announced the appointment of Ed Wilson as the club’s new head of women’s and girls’ cricket.

Wilson joins the Pears from Oxfordshire Cricket where he served as cricket development manager. He helped expand women’s and girls’ cricket across the county.

And Wilson will lead coaching for the women’s team at Worcestershire. He will also oversee the girls’ pathway and serve as the lead for the girls’ emerging player pathway (EPP).

Wilson said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Worcestershire County Cricket Club at such a pivotal time for women’s and girls’ cricket.

“Oxfordshire played against Worcestershire last year and the club clearly have some good people and players.

“Worcestershire has already shown a real commitment to developing the women’s game, and I look forward to building on that momentum.

“My focus will be on strengthening the pathway, growing participation, and ensuring that Worcestershire continues to be a place where female cricketers can thrive and achieve their full potential.

“There’s a fantastic opportunity to take the women’s and girls’ programme to the next level, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Worcestershire CEO, Ashley Giles, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Ed Wilson to Worcestershire as our new head of women’s and girls’ cricket.

“Ed’s proven track record in developing and promoting the women’s and girls’ game aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering talent and expanding opportunities within the sport.

“We look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly bring to the club.”

Wilson will officially start his role with Worcestershire towards the end of March.
