A 10-YEAR-OLD from Worcestershire won a silver medal at the inaugural World Dodgeball Youth Open in Calgary, Canada.

Myles Maguire, who trains with Worcestershire Virtue Empire Dodgeball Club, helped the Altrincham Dodgers win silver after reaching the final of the first-ever World Youth Open hosted by the World Dodgeball Federation.

Myles joined the Dodgers team, run by coaches Molly and Mike Bailey, for the tournament.

Various club teams from around the world took part in the global competition.

Myles and his teammates beat teams from Mexico, United States of America, Italy and several clubs from Canada including the Foothill Falcons, RYC Regina and Warriors.

Altrincham eventually lost to a club from Hong Kong in the final.

Myles was the youngest member of the team who played in the under-12 age group.

He made lots of catches and managed to tag a number of opponents with precise throws.

The team received their medals from the president of the World Dodgeball Federation and the mayor of Calgary.

He has played dodgeball since the age of seven.

Myles is currently training for regional competitions and plays in both the under-11 and under-13 teams.

He hopes to qualify for his third national competition later this year.
