WORCESTER City have paid tribute to football commentator Steve Miller who covered more than 1,000 matches for BBC Hereford and Worcester.
Miller, who lived in Worcester, was diagnosed with cancer in December and died on Saturday (February 22).
He became the first person to cover City for BBC local radio following the launch of Hereford and Worcester in 1989.
Miller was also the voice of the Worcester City sportsline telephone service in the late 80s and early 90s.
Best known as the ‘voice of the Harriers’, Miller commentated on Kidderminster Harriers up until December last year.
He covered more than 1,000 Harriers games over the span of two decades.
Prior to his career in local radio, he followed City home and away for a number of seasons.
Worcester chairman, Steve Goode said: “It was such sad news to hear about his passing. He was one of those people who, when doing his job communicating on local football, made me feel like I was at the game.
“He was very passionate and professional at what he did, and it was my pleasure to call him a friend.
“I’ve never known anyone to say a bad word about him and it’s such a massive loss to local sport.
“Everybody involved with Worcester City Football Club would like to send their sincere condolences to Steve’s family.”
