WORCESTERSHIRE CCC will host a historic double header involving England’s mixed disability team against India this summer.
England’s mixed disbaility men’s team are taking on India in a trailblazing seven-match T20 series in June and July.
New Road will host the fourth game of the series on Friday, June 27 with the match to start at 5pm.
And the teams will meet again at New Road two days later on Sunday, June 29 at 2.30pm in the fifth game of the series.
The series is the first of its kind at international level – bringing together the physical disability, learning disability and hearing impaired formats.
Worcestershire CEO, Ashley Giles, said: “We are delighted to have such a close link with the physical disability side of the game and to continue that by being part of this pioneer series.
“To feature in two games at New Road where there will be the bringing together of the physical disability, learning disability and hearing impaired formats will be really special.”
The ECB’S head of disability cricket, Ian Martin added: “We always say with disability cricket, you only need to see it to immediately understand how good the cricket is and how entertaining it is.
“We haven’t played mixed disability cricket at international level before but we know from the Disability Premier League (DPL) that this format brings together the best of the best.
“I just can’t wait for people to see it and be blown away.
“To know we’ll be at Lord’s and to know as well that we’ll be at so many other fantastic venues – Worcester, Taunton, Bristol and Wormsley – makes it feel even more real. We can’t wait for it to start now.”
Worcestershire are one four first class grounds participating in the series alongside Lord’s, Taunton and Bristol. A game at Wormsley will also take place.
The Lord’s game on Wednesday, June 25 will fall on the MCC’s Disability Cricket Day.
Worcestershire have previously hosted prestigious physical disability matches.
This includes a tri-series between England, Pakistan and Bangladesh in 2018, in conjunction with the University Of Worcester.
In 2018 England, Pakistan and Bangladesh competed in a tri-series hosted by Worcestershire in conjunction with the University Of Worcester.
The ground-breaking event was the first international physical disability tournament to take place in the country.

All seven games in the series will be live-streamed on ECB channels.
