CAMERON Monteith scored the only goal as Worcester City claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against Boldmere St Michaels.
Monteith scored the winner on 19 minutes at Claines Lane as City secured a fifth successive league win.
The result means Worcester sit third in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.
City goalkeeper Haydn Whitcombe made a crucial early claim as he held Tui Gustavo Macedo Sanches’ cross in from the right with Boldmere forward Charlie Manners in close proximity.
The visitors went close soon after as Jake Collins fired a shot inches past the post following a rushed clearance from City captain Charlie Wise.
Worcester responded with a chance of their own as Liam Lockett cut in from the left and saw his powerful shot well-saved by Boldmere goalkeeper Jonathan Brown at his near post.
And City broke the deadlock when Monteith volleyed home Logan Stoddart’s cross from the right from eight-yards out.
Boldmere almost drew level after Whitcombe could only parry Collins’ initial effort and Manners scrambled the follow-up against the post from close range.
The visitors tested Whitcombe again after the break as substitute Jake Wilkes lashed a venomous effort towards goal from distance which the Worcester stopper kept out with his feet.
From the resulting corner, Hayden Reeves superbly cleared a headed effort from close range off the line.
The hosts spurned a glorious chance to seal the points when Lockett played in Taylor Townsend only for the latter to lift a shot well over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area.
City clung on at the death as Whitcombe reacted sharply to push away an effort at his near post before Elliott Hartley scrambled the ball to safety.
Worcester are next in action against Bedworth United on Saturday, November 23 with kick-off at 3pm at The Oval.
