ZAC Guinan’s late goal sent 10-man Worcester City into the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Senior Cup following a 1-0 win away at higher-division Redditch United.

The substitute scored the game’s only goal on 89 minutes to stun the Reds after Kyle Belmonte saw red earlier in the second half at the Valley Stadium.

The Reds play one level above Worcester in the Southern League Premier Central division.

Both teams observed a minute’s silence prior to kick-off with the game taking place on Armistice Day.

The visitors created the game’s first chance as Felix Miles drove towards goal before firing a shot wide of Callum Smith’s post.

And Miles went close again later in the half after he received Liam Lockett’s pass from the left before forcing Smith into a fingertip save at his near post.

The Reds struggled to create a chance of note in the first period as Jahvan Davidson-Miller curled a shot well over the crossbar and Billy Shaw dragged an effort wide from distance.

After the break, City midfielder Belmonte received a yellow card for a strong challenge on United’s Jaiy Leydon.

Redditch felt they should have had a penalty when substitute Johnny Johnston was pushed to the ground in the box only for the referee to wave away the home side’s protests.

Worcester’s Belmonte then picked up a second yellow card on 70 minutes after he needlessly pushed Shaw into the advertising boards when battling for a loose ball.

And Johnston went to ground in the box again soon after under a challenge from Elliott Hartley with the referee unmoved.

However, the 10-men of Worcester stunned United with one minute left to play as Guinan placed a first time shot into the bottom left corner from 15-yards out.

Worcester are next in action against Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off at 3pm at Claines Lane.
