Jake named in team of the season

Worcester Editorial 5th Oct, 2021   0

JAKE Libby has been included in the 2021 PCA Men’s Team of the Year, which is decided by the PCA Most Valuable Player rankings.

The Worcestershire CCC batsman had a season to remember in all formats and totalled 343 MVP points.

Libby scored 1,075 runs in the LV=Insurance County Championship, a figure only surpassed by Sussex’s Tom Haines.

He hit four Championship centuries and also scored 554 runs in white-ball cricket for the Rapids.

It followed on from his excellent first campaign at New Road in the Bob Willis Trophy when he finished as the country’s leading scorer in the tournament’s group stages.

Libby’s superb efforts earned him a new three-year contract until the end of the 2024 campaign, and he has been appointed Worcestershire’s red ball vice-captain.

Libby will receive a personalised medal, and his inclusion follows on from Worcestershire Women’s Rapids player, Emily Arlott, being named in the PCA Women’s Team Of The Year.

Essex’s Simon Harmer has been chosen as captain of the PCA Men’s Team Of The Year, with Northamptonshire’s Ricardo Vasconcelos keeping wicket.
