Action is set to pause for Duke

WORCESTERSHIRE’s cricketers and Warriors players will be among those paying their respects on Saturday as the funeral of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh takes place.

Sporting fixtures across the country have adjusted their kick-off and playing times to ensure no action will be take place at 3pm on Saturday when the service is due to begin at St George’s Chapel Windsor.

Warriors’ Gallagher Premiership match against Harlequins at The Stoop on Saturday will now kick-off at 5pm live on BT Sport Extra 2.

All cricket will pause for a period on Saturday, to commemorate Prince Phillip’s life.




As a mark of respect, all nine LV=Insurance County Championship matches will pause between 2.50pm and 4.10pm to coincide with the funeral.

The ECB are also asking all recreational cricket clubs across England and Wales to pause play between 3pm and 4pm in order to pay their respects alongside observing the one-minute silence at 3pm.


Worcestershire are currently in action against Derbyshire their second County Championship game of the season.
