VERSATILE defender Aaron Roberts has signed on the dotted line to give Worcester City a timely boost for the run-in to the end of the season.
Former Bromsgrove Sporting player Roberts, who can play anywhere across the backline and in midfield, has agreed a deal with the Blue and Whites after a short spell at Studley and made his debut in last Saturday’s 3-2 win over AFC Wulfrunians in the Midland League Premier Division.
Club bosses have also confirmed the Victoria Ground in Bromsgrove will remain their ‘home’ for the 2019/2020 season.
In a statement, the club said: “We would like to thank [chairman] Mike Burke and others at Bromsgrove Sporting for continuing the groundshare agreement.
“With this news we have now begun work on arranging pre-season friendlies and news of that will follow in the coming weeks.”
On the field, City go into Saturday’s home clash with Shepshed Dynamo on the back of victory in a five-goal thriller in the Black Country last weekend.
The Blue and Whites will be hoping to repeat their 2-1 away win in September. Victory against Dynamo would take City back into the top 10 as they look to finish the campaign on a high.
A brace from Jordan Harrison either side of Josh Willis’s effort ensured City came away from AFC Wulfs with three points.
Harrison bravely poked home to give City the lead after six minutes but despite being on top for long spells in the first half, the Blue and Whites were pegged back when Angelo Franco levelled from the spot.
John Snape’s City hit the front again after 52 minutes when Tyler Weir found Callum McFarlane whose cross was thumped in by Willis and Harrison sealed the points from the spot midway through the second half after Weir had been fouled by keeper Ben Roberts.
A second from Franco ensured a nerve-wracking end to the clash.
