Offering his own take on history

Worcester Editorial 26th Feb, 2019   0

HISTORIAN David Starkey will be taking to the stage at Huntingdon Hall for ‘A Monarchy of Misfits’ this Friday (March 1) from 7pm.

Starkey first appeared on the television scene in 1977 and was a regular contributor to the BBC. He was also a teacher, but after 30 years in the academic profession he focused more on his presenting and became a wider public figure in 1992 on the BBC Radio 4 programme The Moral Maze.

Although specialising in Tudor history, Starkey has a wealth of knowledge on the British monarchy as a whole, and will be delving into this history during his talk.

Starkey traces the radically shifting marriage customs of the British monarchy, from the laxity of the Middle Ages, through the stringencies of the Hanoverians, to the house of Windsor and its sometimes contorted adaptations to the realities of modern family life.
