SONGS from the 1980s ‘supergroup’ The Traveling Wilburys will be on the menu later this month when The Unravelling Wilburys take to the stage at Huntingdon Hall.
The Travelling Wilburys consisted of five of the greatest names in rock music history: George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.
The ‘super group’ recorded two albums, the first in 1988 and the second in 1990, though Orbison died before the second was recorded.
Their project work was the subject of great anticipation given the diverse nature of the singer-songwriters. Their debut album Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 proved an enduring critical success, winning accolades such as a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
Welcome Thumper, Blind Melon, Sticky Willy, Walter and Javelin, who form the wonderful Unravelling Wilburys and offer their own take on hits such as End Of The Line, Handle With Care, The Devil’s Been Busy, Not Alone
Anymore, Pretty Woman, Mr Blue Sky and Mr Tambourine Man and Lay Lady Lay to name a few.
The whole package is presented with the band’s inimitable style and humour on Friday, June 22 from 7.30pm.
