WARRIORS director of rugby Alan Solomons has lavished praised on fan favourite Jonny Arr as his side prepare to embark on the closing stages of their Aviva Premiership campaign.
Arr needs just one more appearance to reach 200 for the Sixways side and Solomons hailed the 29-year-old scrum half as a ‘fantastic club man and a fantastic bloke’.
His side travel to Sale on Saturday (3pm) 12 points ahead of bottom side London Irish with just five games left.
“Sale Sharks have an extremely good record at home so we are expecting a very tough game at the weekend. They are solid all-round and have a number of players with the X-factor,” he said.
Warriors go into the game on the back of a fortnight without rugby and, despite the gap between games, Solomons said his side were in a ‘positive place’ as they look to rubber-stamp their Premiership status for next season.
“They needed a break after the last block of games and, after some time off, they have a real buzz ahead of Saturday’s game,” he said.
Saturday’s game could see Warriors welcome back Ben Te’o after England’s disappointing Natwest 6 Nations campaign which concluded with a 24-15 reverse at Twickenham against Grand Slam winners Ireland.
“He hasn’t played as much rugby as some other players this season due to his injury before Christmas so he is fresh and he is a key player for us,” said Solomons.
No further coaching arrivals are expected after Solomons confirmed he was happy with the club’s set-up for next season.
Francois Hougaard and Sam Lewis are recovering from injury and will be assessed but Ryan Mills is unlikely to play again this season after he suffered a high ankle sprain.
Mills joins Luke Baldwin on the treatment table but Solomons delivered good news on the scrum-half.
